Energy self-sufficiency? Yes, with CO2! -G. Pisano-

Image
Energy consumption has become one of the most crucial aspect of our daily life. This pertains to every sector, from private to business, from household to commercial and industrial buildings. However, when it comes to refrigeration equipment , using CO2 systems may enable you to achieve energy self-sufficiency; and yes, you may do it all with CO2 !   Once again, let’s pretend I am a supermarket owner planning to open a new point of sales (one day I will open one, it’s a promise); for instance, one of those proximity shops which are becoming very popular in our today’s city centers. As usual, I will need to freeze some kind of food, to chill other kind of food but at the same time I will need to take care about customers comfort when doing their shopping: my shop floor will have to be warm in winter and fresh in summer. And maybe my fitting rooms will need to provide some hot water for my employees deserving a shower at the end of their working d...

Preventing from liquid migration and saving money -F. Faralli-

Image
The compressor is the most stressed part in the refrigeration system and there are several technical solutions to improve its reliability. One of the main problems faced by the compressor is the mixing of liquid refrigerant into the oil . When the compressor is located where the ambient temperature is lower than any other part of the system, the liquid refrigerant might migrate from the circuit to the compressor during off cycle or during a long shut down. Whenever the compressor starts, the foam formation could totally or partially remove the oil from the compressor. The crankcase heater, which should be turned on when the compressor is off, increases oil temperature reducing the concentration of liquid refrigerant in the oil. This is one of the possible technical solutions to limit liquid migration. Dorin introduced as optional the self-regulating heater that compared to the standard one adjusts the absorbed power depending on the temperature . In case the temperature of the c...

What are the key points you need to take care while installing a piston compressor?

Image
A s the core moving part of a refrigeration system is the compressor, its installation level directly affects its performance and durability. The installation needs are not all the same between the different types of compressors due to the different ways of compressing the refrigerant. Today I would like to discuss with you the main installation points of a   piston compressor. Key point one: reduce vibration of compressor As we all know, by using the piston to compress the refrigerant, the reciprocating compressor suffers more serious vibrations than other types of compressors. Reducing running vibrations is significant for both the compressor and the entire refrigeration system, which can reduce noise and make the compressor run more peacefully. if we cannot effectively reduce vibrations, the welded connection points between the compressor and the suction or discharge pipes are easy to break during operation, causing refrigerant leakage and affecting the performance of ...
