Why invest in refrigeration installations with natural fluids? - S. Mourao -

This is one of the most asked questions lately by owners and managers of facilities that use refrigeration. Among them we can mention Supermarkets, Distribution Centers, Refrigerated Warehouses, Industrial Installations, and even smaller businesses, such as Bakeries and Mini Markets. There are many lines of reasoning, but it is a fact that we need to take actions that protect our planet , and some relevant points that must be considered are:   New F-gas regulations, impose serious obstacles in the implementation of HFCs for these applications, leading to work on a solution that helps to fulfill the goal of the Montreal Protocol, which is to replace HCFCs, synthetic refrigerant gases harmful to the environment, until 2040 in Brazil.   Systems with natural fluids that are being installed today, will not have to undergo retrofit in the coming years.   The new projects with CO2 and Propane, have a small amount of these fluids, which considerably reduces the cost of m...

Industr ial p rocess cooling involving large refrigeration capacities represents one of the most challe nging application in our industry segment. Most often ammonia based solutions have successfully fulfilled the duties thanks to the excellent energy performance of this natural refrigerant. However local legislations sometimes impose severe constraints, connected to toxicity and flammability aspects. Due to these, end users has started to successfully look into alternative technologies, such as CO2 trans-critical equipments.  With the launch of CO2 trans-critical compressors featuring up to 100 hp and 60 m3...
