👉 PROCESS COOLING WITH CO2👈 -G. Pisano-

Industrial process cooling involving large refrigeration capacities represents one of the most challenging application in our industry segment.

Most often ammonia based solutions have successfully fulfilled the duties thanks to the excellent energy performance of this natural refrigerant.

However local legislations sometimes impose severe constraints, connected to toxicity and flammability aspects.

Due to these, end users has started to successfully look into alternative technologies, such as CO2 trans-critical equipments.

With the launch of CO2 trans-critical compressors featuring up to 100 hp and 60 m3/h, DORIN has helped to consistently improve cost effectiveness of trans-critical CO2 systems applied to large scale process cooling.

As an example, recently a leading Italian frozen food producer (Surgital) has partnered with a very skilled company (Gencold) to implement CO2 trans-critical technology for their new 300 kW LT duty freezing tunnels, with design SST as low as -40°C.

These tunnels are up and running since more than year with excellent COP results and no reliability issues reported: this is remarkably important in light of the very hot 2019 summer which hit Italy and other European Countries.

This once more witness that CO2 can be considered as a reliable, cost effective and efficient solution also in process cooling applications.
