DORIN: GOLD MEDAL AT THE BEIJING OLYMPICS
Beijing
and all of China are ready to kick off the XXIV Winter Olympic Games.
Just a few days to the opening
ceremony of one of the most important and spectacular international sports
events.
A special
edition, not only because in Covid times, with all the consequent
restrictions and special provisions, but also and above all for the commitment
made and maintained by Beijing, to host the first "GREEN
Olympics".
This will be the first time, in the
history of the Olympics, that all the venues will be wholly powered
by green energy.
In fact, a flexible DC power grid has
been built, which brings the electricity of the capital, generated by the rich
wind and solar resources, to Zhangjiakou, the city that, with Beijing, will
host the 2022 Games.
In
addition, Beijing has decided to introduce the use of natural refrigerants (CO2)
for ice production, with the aim of further reducing greenhouse gas
emissions, through the use of "green" technologies
Of the
nine skating rinks, five use CO2 refrigeration systems
and four R449A.
After a
first moment, in which the organizers had thought of R507, the HFC blend used
as a replacement for R502 and R22 in low and medium temperature refrigeration, (refrigerant
banned in Europe, but still used in other parts of the world) and having assessed
global development trends and consulted experts in refrigeration and air
conditioning, it was decided to implement separate plans for the production of
jackets, with the support of the International Olympic Committee.
In venues
that have to produce and maintain the ice throughout the year, including the National
Speed Skating Oval, it was therefore decided to use CO2,
and DORIN COMPRESSORS were chosen.

According
to Song Jiafeng, an engineer from the construction team of the Speed
Skating Oval (the main Ice Arena, located inside the Olympic Green in Beijing,
inaugurated in 2021, which will host the speed skating competitions at the
Winter Olympics) the use of CO2, as a refrigerant, can in
fact increase the efficiency of ice production by 30% and save about 2
million kWh per year.
China
definitely wins the OLYMPIC prize for the commitment and the achievement
of "green" refrigeration, DORIN confirms
to be the technological champion and with its team of "Athletes",
the range of CO2 compressors, brings home the most coveted
medal: OLYMPIC GOLD!
